IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AMONG PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS IN LAGOS STATE

Abstract

The study examined the impact of technology and artificial intelligence among primary school pupils in Lagos State. Technology is the mother of civilisations. It has impacted different aspects of life. Complex and critical processes can be carried out more easily and more efficiently with the help of technology. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The targeted population for this study consisted of pupils and teachers in the Ojo and Amuwo-Odofin local government education authorities in Lagos State, and the sample comprised 220 participants. A multistage sampling procedure was employed for the study. A self-designed instrument was used for the study titled, Technology and Artificial Intelligence for Pupil and Teachers Questionnaires(TAIPTQ). The reliability of the instrument was tested using Cronbach's alpha, with a reliability coefficient of 0.81. Inferential statistics of the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation coefficient were used to test the null hypotheses formulated at a 0.05 level of significance. The findings show that there was a significant positive relationship between technology and AI integration and learning outcomes among primary school pupils in Lagos State. Also, there was a significant positive relationship between technology and AI usage and pupils' well-being in Lagos State. The study recommended that AI-powered platforms can provide personalised learning experiences, improving pupils' understanding and engagement. Lastly, AI can help pupils develop essential soft skills
skills like communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and adaptability.
